Image Handling in Everly Auctions: Fast, Optimized and Cost-Effective

At Everly Auctions, we’ve put a lot of thought into building an image pipeline that’s not just sleek and fast — but also incredibly cost-efficient behind the scenes.

Every image uploaded is automatically processed through an optimization pipeline. It's resized, converted to modern formats like WebP, and cached both locally and via a global CDN. This means no repeated transformations, and every image is delivered in the right size for the right context — whether it's a thumbnail, a product photo, or a high-resolution gallery image.

Our custom-built our own system that delivers these optimized images on the fly, and it's seamlessly integrated with Cloudflare for lightning-fast global delivery. The result? Smooth performance, even when thousands of users browse through countless listings.

Images are stored in our own "Storage", and we use a smart logic to set the "main image" automatically based on order — making it easy for administrators to manage visuals. Everything is tied into our block editor, so images can be reused across pages, themes, and product views.

Best of all, the system scales. We can support a large number of images and auction houses — without the cost spiraling out of control. Instead of relying on expensive third-party platforms, we’ve built something self-sufficient that empowers our clients to focus on selling, not technology.
